GIANNI TBAY (AKA THE BLUES AGAINST YOUTH)
country blues primitive one man experiment

Hailing from Rome, Italy, The Blues Against Youth is the stage name for the country blues one man band led and operated by the multi instrumentalist Gianni TBAY who sings, plays guitar, hi-hat and bassdrum simultaneously.
Primarily influenced by country blues and outlaw country genres, TBAY’s sound has developed, over a 14 years career, in diverse directions, at times exploring John Fahey’s primitive guitar, other times echoing the pre-war blues fathers’ legacy and occasionally delving into the 90’s garage blues vibes of Fat Possum and In The Red Records. Since 2009, TBAY has released six full length albums and several 7”, toured extensively in all Europe, UK and part of the US, taken part in festivals like Binic Folk Festival, Relache Bordeaux, Time in Jazz and London Blues Festival sharing the stage with the likes of Water Melon Slim, CW Stoneking, Son Of Dave, Bob Log III, Popa Chubby and many others. His latest full length LP “As The Tide Gets High And Low” came out on LP on Escape From Today Records in 2022 and scored enthustiastic responses from the international press, especially in the UK.
After the forced pandemic break TBAY got back on track and celebrated his 15th career anniversary with a long tour in Europe and UK throughout 2023 and 2024 as one man band and duo along with the harmonica player Luca Colombrita. In the summer of 2024 Gianni TBAY embarked on a two weeks UK tour across Midlands and Southeast, appearing at Birmingham Jazz & Blues festival and promoting his latest 45 single “Learn This Right” that paved the way for his upcoming full length album, due in 2025.
